Free Maths show in Canterbury

It sucks that this is on the same day as the BANE/DTN/Gold Kids show in London but fuck it, this show is free and the pub is the perfect setting to see Maths and Great Ancestors.

Split with Departures + Tour news

So in September we have a split cd coming out with Departures from Glasgow (Click to check them out!)

We have four tracks going on it, all recorded with Jason Frye @ Son of Sun studios. Once we've got all the mastered tracks back we'll upload one of them to the myspace page.

The artwork for the split is being done by Keith Rosson (Same dude who did the DING artwork, check him out!)
It's looking rad so far, we're all pretty stoked.

To support the release of the split, in September we will be touring with Departures and our friends BREAKUP from Germany.

so make sure you check out both of those bands and come to a show!

We're gonna have 3 different sets of lyrics on 15 shirts (5 of each, well done.)

I'm fucking terrible at updating this, probably about 2 months or something since the last update.. anyway here it is:

FITA records are getting together with the equally rad Breakout records to put out our next release. It's gonna be a split 7" featuring a few tracks from us and a few from Black & Blue i think we're recording our tracks for it at the end of this month sometime so i might possibly get round to making some sort of studio blog this time round.. probably won't though.

Other than that, we've got a load of shows coming up in July/September and 2 rad shows this month too, try and get out to some of them if you can!

they're hand numbered to 50, the artworks clearer than it ever was on the first 20~30 copies and the inlay sheet is actually almost readable now too.

in short, they're rad and after a few more shows they'll be gone so get a copy from our bigcartel if you're in to us, i'll chuck some stickers in too.

the more we sell, the more chance there is of us being able to afford to get some shirts printed.

We're Atlantic Hearts

right! i don't know how to start this one, there's a fair bit going on at the moment..
that'll do, nice intro that.

Remember that compilation cd we were telling you about in november? well it's out next month and it's going to be rad as fuck.
10 bands, 2 tracks from each, stuff like Santa Karla, Pay No Respect, Run! and Atlantic Hearts.. i guess it really is about who you know ;)

Jamie (brains behind F.I.T.A Records) has also been rad enough to release our demo next month on white cassette's limited to 50 copies, these will probably be hand numbered by the band so look out for some fuck ups in there, i hear ryan's not so good at counting.

who knows, the artwork might even look something like this..

as well as all that we've got shows coming up with some really awesome bands like Brides, Attack! Vipers! (huge deal for us to play with them!) and a couple of shows which should be pure ridiculous (beercart included) but it all adds up to fun times.

Next month is going to be huge for this band, and it can't come soon enough.

So after tonights show, Ryan, Sam and I were talking and basically we reached the decision that for the direction we're looking to take the band in, we need to look for a new vocalist.
to be honest, it was a fucking hard decision to make and even harder to actually go through with. it was a conversation i wasn't looking forward to at all, but i've been talking to james and he understands and appreciates our honesty with him.

there's absolutely no hard feelings between us and no doubt we'll still be hanging out at local shows from time to time, including his next 'Rumble In The Ghetto' promotions show on April 9th wich so far is looking to have nothing short of an amazing line up!

this does now of course mean that we'll be looking for a new vocalist.someone with a scream/shout along the lines of November Coming Fire, The Ghost of a Thousand & Dead Swans would be sick so message/comment us if you're interested cos we'll be starting tryouts in the next couple of weeks.

also james has asked me to give a mention to any oldschool hardcore/punk type bands out there looking for a vocalist he's no doubt up for starting something new!

They'll Print Anything These Days..

“I want it to be like that scene in Back to the Future.”
Atlantic Hearts drummer Glenn Harvey, 19, has high hopes for his new band but time travelling is not on the agenda just yet.
“I hope that when people see us it’s like that bit where Marty McFly plays the guitar solo to the 50’s prom crowd and no-one knows what to make of it,” he explained. The Canterbury band formed this summer from the ashes of hardcore punk trio Truths. Guitarist Ryan Thompson, 18, bassist Sam Bradford, 19, and vocalist James Matthews, 20, complete the line up and according to Glenn, they plan on disregarding musical rules for this new venture. “We feel like we don’t have to stay in one genre with this band,” he said.Internet videos have surfaced, showcasing songs that will be properly aired at the debut show later this month. The sound is similar to Truths’ but with an unpredictable element leading the songs to cover a wide range of ideas and emotions. “It’s making a lot of difference having an actual singer in the band,” said Glenn, acknowledging the guitarist and vocalist role Ryan played in their former outfit. “Our music is going in a new direction."
Glenn and Ryan’s former bands were known for chaotic live shows which often featured flailing limbs and swinging instruments as members got caught up in the heat of the moment. Promising more of the same, Glenn said: “We’re going to give it all we’ve got. The songs aren’t emotionless pop songs. The energy is there and we want to bring it out live.”
Plans for the immediate future are recording their first batch of songs before gigging “as much as possible”. Glenn explained that Truths created a solid foundation for Atlantic Hearts to build from. “When we started out my mates weren’t really bothered but when they heard us they were surprised it was half decent music. In Atlantic Hearts we want to make something that people want to listen to not because their friends are playing it but because they like the band.”

So far we have pretty much 3 solid songs and we're hoping to get another 2/3 done before the first show, October 23rd in Canterbury.

anyone who is coming to this show: make us believe that CT shows are still something to be fucking proud of.. the days of xCANAANx and NCF might be over but they're not forgotten by a long shot.

Canterbury people.. live up to the reputation that you have. With bands like Fastpoint, Pay No Respect, Rip It Up and Our Time Down Here playing, i think that the Northgate Community Centre could build a decent rep for itself after this show.. not to mention CT fest in december. Brace yourself.

In the meantime, raw demos to be put up on the myspace soon, yadda yadda yadda.
